PRGDA GDC SCHOLARSHIP 2022!

The Game Developers’ Conference (GDC) is one of the largest and most important gatherings in the Video Game Industry. We are really excited to offer our community the opportunity to access this important event in person!

The LATAM Video Games Federation wants to see our community grow! In this effort, they have graciously given the PRGDA 9 GDC ALL-ACCESS PASSES to give to our game development community.

  • 3 All-Access passes have been secured for people who identify as an underrepresented minority within the PR game development community.

  • 3 All-Access passes have been secured for university students so that they may continue to gain knowledge about our industry.

  • 3 All-Access passes have been secured for professionals so that they may network and find new opportunities while at GDC.

ELIGIBILITY

Because we have such a limited amount of passes, we are requiring anyone interested in this opportunity to fill out an application form so they can be considered. Anyone can apply, however, we do have some basic requirements.

APPLICANTS MUST:

  • be 18 years or older

  • identify as Puerto Rican, whether or not you live on the island

  • fill out all portions of the application form to be considered

  • be available for a 10-15 minute interview with the PRDGA anytime on February 19-20th 2022.

  • understand that this application only covers the ticket for entry to GDC and not flight or stay.*

  • follow all COVID travel, safety, and health guidelines for both San Francisco (California) and Puerto Rico.

*The PRGDA is exploring options for those that need financial assistance to travel. Updates coming soon.

ARE YOU A STUDENT?
We ask students to provide a recommendation letter from a professor at your university.

CAN I STILL APPLY IF I’M NOT IN GAME DEVELOPMENT?
Yes, please still apply!
Whether you work in AR/VR/XR, gamified apps or experiences, film, metaverse projects, crypto, blockchain, machine learning, NFTs, animation, an educator, office administration, legal, music, content creation, streaming, eSports, event coordination, etc, it doesn’t matter!

There are many tools and resources that overlap with game development, as well as many game projects that are already working in or exploring these industries. GDC IS HUGE! And we are sure you will gain valuable knowledge and experiences while there, regardless of your industry.

IS THERE A CATCH?

  • You will be asked to sign an Agreement and Liability Waiver.

  • You will be asked to fill out the GDC Developer survey after your visit.

  • You will be asked to provide a day-by-day recap of your experience either via social media or the PR Game Devs Discord. The PRGDA will use your recaps to feature you in an article on our website after you return from the event.
